In the area of Voice training, group classes are available for students ages 6 and

older. Breathing, vocalization, pitch recognition and introduction to harmony are some of the techniques introduced. Audition techniques for the dancer/actor who sings are taught.

Students need to bring a notebook to class each week.

It is suggested, but not required, that each student have a voice recording device, so that they may record their weekly lesson and listen/work to it during the following week.

Hip Hop

 Ages 5 and up

45 minutes a week

Hip Hop originated as a free form of street dance, with each choreographer carrying their own distinct style. This class allows for students to explore the vast world of Hip Hop while enjoying age appropriate technique, styles, and music.  Students love the rhythms, syncopated movements, and choreography which include floor work and center work. All classes are high energy and students love dancing to their favorite songs. Students will have a passion for learning the latest steps, while bringing their personality and attitude to the movement.

Pointe

This class is for the more advanced ballet dancer. This form of dance enables you to perform fully on the tops of your toes with a special shoe. Dancers will be evaluated at the end of the intermediate level, and must be no younger than 10 years of age. Dancer must have taken two consecutive years of ballet prior to be considered for pointe work and must stay enrolled in a ballet class to continue. This class is by approval only; your instructor will have more information when you are ready for pointe.

Contemporary/ Lyrical

Ages 8 and up

45 minutes a week

Lyrical, like most forms of dance, is grounded by an extremely strong ballet foundation, while contemporary incorporates modern dance with ballet. It is usually performed to music that is slow or down beat, melodic and sweet-sounding. It is a very broad form of dance which includes many dynamic, fast paced, and sometimes fast pieces. These two genres challenge students to use technique along with acting ability to interpret music and express emotion. Emphasis is placed on connecting a student’s movement and emotions, in an attempt to show the meaning of the music. It is a very passionate and emotional style of dance which tells a story through every movement made. For the beginning student, lyrical classes will focus on building, expressive, subtle, and dynamic emotion combined with a solid ballet technique. For the more advanced dancer, the focus will be on much more intricate technique such as turns, fouettes, jumps, extensions, at the same time connecting to your emotions. Come express yourself in lyrical class!

Ballet and Jazz classes are highly recommended
