Information for Parents

Holidays
We are open for all holidays except Thanksgiving week and the following weekend, Christmas vacation, Spring Break, Memorial Day, the Forth of July, and Labor Day .

Insurance
All students are required to be covered by their own insurance, and if an injury occurs, it is understood that the students and their family are responsible for any medical costs. All students and/or their parents must sign a release form in order to participate in classes.

Liability Disclaimer: The Studio and its Instructors are not liable for personal injury or loss or damage to personal property. Since dance is a physical activity, injuries may occur. Students dance at their own risk.

Dress Requirements
Dress requirements are strictly enforced. Students without proper dance attire will not be able to participate in class that day. No street clothes or jewelry of any sort. A strongly suggested cover up should be worn on arrival and dismissal of all dancers. Dance shoes should not be worn outside of the building.

Classroom Expectations
We want you to have fun and enjoy the experience of dance. In order to achieve success, we must have some order and guidelines.

Being Late to Class

We ask that all students arrive at least 15 minutes before class. We understand that being late is sometimes unavoidable, however, a pupil who is more than 10 minutes late for class may be asked by the teacher to observe rather than take class. This is not a disciplinary measure, but it is done with the student’s best interests in mind — especially those where higher levels are concerned. A student who misses the beginning exercises runs the risk of injury by not being properly warmed up. Please make sure the student understands this. Students must make every effort to be on time & attend every class.

Attendance
Please inform our desk of missed classes due to sickness or other. We miss you when you are not in class! Regular class attendance insures a successful dancer and a dance year.

Students who miss more than 6 classes (without making them up) will be unable to perform in the annual recital. In the event that this happens, a student can arrange for private lessons. We do offer make-up classes.

Class Behavior

We want the studio to be a fun place where friendships are made but a place where we also respect each other. Excessive talking, disruptive behavior, poor attitudes, and non- preparation for class can lead to warnings and removal from class.

Lobby Etiquette
To provide a safe environment, we expect no horseplay inside or outside the studio. It is your responsibility as a parent to have control of your children at all times while you are inside/outside our studio. A strongly suggested cover up should be worn on arrival and dismissal of all dancers. Parents are welcomed to sit and wait in the lobby or return when your dancer’s class is finished. Parents are not allowed to observe classes. Parents, Dancers & others: Keep volume to a minimum to not disturb class.

Recital
A fun experience to showcase all the hard work our dancers have achieved through the year. We provide a professional production appropriate for family viewing. The recital is in May with on stage rehearsals the same week. Video taping and photographs are never permitted at the recital, although you may take pictures & video at dress rehearsal. There will be a professional videographer and DVD’s can be purchased. Costumes are required for each routine a student performs in the recital. Price range $50 - $75 each (with the younger classes at the low end).

Email, Newsletters, & Website
We will be using email, newsletters, and our website as the major way of communicating with our dance family. We believe in keeping everyone informed. If at any time your e-mail is changed or is no longer in use, please inform our desk immediately. It is always best to check with our desk for information that is given out. Remember we share the most important person in your life - your child. We have to establish a relationship between parent, dancer & teacher, to do this communication is Imperative.

Photo & Video Release

The school is hereby granted permission to take photographs of the students and videos to use in brochures, web sites, posters, advertisements and other promotional materials the school creates.  Permission is also hereby granted for the school to copyright such photographs in its name.  Student names are never posted. If you would prefer to not have your child in promotional material please sign our photo & video release waiver.

Parent Involvement
Parental involvement is always encouraged and applauded at our studio. There are a few times during the year that your participation will be expected including recital costume pick-up in the spring, picture day, and recital rehearsals.

Questions, Concerns & Feedback
Communication with our students and their families is very important to us. If in the event a problem or concern may arise, or you would like to provide feedback about any of our operations, please contact our studio office at 229-420-1545. By policy instructors are to remain focused on their class and the development of their students. It is for this reason that our office will be the point of contact between all instructors and families.
